We go through life learning and doing, doing it without thinking. But each of our paths is different. One is ahead of another in one particular area, and vice versa. By nature, we’re constantly learning from each other.
But most people will die with knowledge they should’ve shared.
We have an opportunity (and a duty) to figure out what we’re ahead in and monetize it in some way.
This week we’re going to look at 3 ways to find knowledge people are searching for that you already have ready to give.
- Reflect on Your Unique Experiences
- Utilize Social Listening
- Leverage Your Professional Network
Reflect on Your Unique Experiences
Each person's journey is filled with unique experiences and lessons that could benefit others. Start by jotting down the challenges you've overcome, the skills you've mastered, and the hobbies you're passionate about. This reflection process can unearth valuable insights that others are eager to learn about.
For instance, if you’ve navigated a successful career change, your insights could help others looking to do the same. You could create an online course or write an ebook detailing the steps, challenges, and strategies for a successful transition.
Take-away: List your experiences and skills, then match them with potential learning needs in the market. Begin with creating content that addresses these needs.
Utilize Social Listening
Social media platforms and online forums are treasure troves of information on what people are looking to learn. Engage in social listening by joining groups and forums related to your areas of expertise. Note the questions that come up repeatedly and the challenges people face.
This engagement not only helps you identify market needs but also allows you to build a community of potential customers. Once you’ve identified a recurring theme, consider offering personalized coaching sessions, webinars, or creating a detailed guide to address these needs.
Take-away: Engage with your audience online to discover what they want to learn, then create targeted solutions to meet these demands.
Leverage Your Professional Network
Your professional network can be a goldmine for discovering what knowledge is in demand. Reach out to colleagues, mentors, and industry peers to discuss trends, gaps in knowledge, and what they wish they knew more about. This can reveal opportunities for you to create specialized training programs, workshops, or consulting services.
For example, if you have extensive experience in digital marketing, you might discover a need for understanding data analytics among your peers. This insight can prompt you to offer a series of workshops that demystify analytics for marketers, teaching them how to interpret data to make informed decisions and improve their campaigns.
Take-away: Use your network to find out what knowledge is valued and consider how you can package your expertise to meet this need.
There’s Only So Much Time
Our time on earth is finite, a precious gift from God. We are stewards of the knowledge and talents He has bestowed upon us. It's our duty to share these gifts, not just for our benefit but to enrich the lives of others.
For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance. But from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. (Matthew 25:29).
Let this be a call to action to use your God-given talents in the service of others, sharing your knowledge freely or monetizing it to further God's kingdom on earth.
Don't let your gifts go to waste; share your knowledge, and in doing so, fulfill your purpose and calling.
Until next week,
Elliott
